When you provide funds for exchange in DeFi, your assets are spread out to fund trades in any price range, from zero to infinity.

Liquidity providers earn trading fees as rewards for offering their funds, so the greater the trading demand for those assets, the more rewards they stand to earn. 

The problem is, most trades occur within a very specific price range – so all the liquidity spread out on either side of the current price range goes unused. Which means – liquidity providers aren’t earning rewards on the majority of their provided assets. 

Concentrated liquidity allows users to specify in which price range they’d like to focus their assets. By choosing the price range in which most trades occur, users can maximize their earned rewards.
